Following the arrest and arraigning in court of Henry Rotich and his PS Dr. Kamau Thugge following corruption allegations that arose due to the Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal. The President has in a bid to ensure smooth operations and continuity in government has appointed Ukur Yatani Kanacho who is the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Social Protection as the Cabinet Secretary responsibility for National Treasury and Planning in an acting capacity.

Ukur Yattani Kanacho was born on 12th March 1967 in Marsabit county. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Sociology degree from Egerton University. He also holds a  Master of Public Administration and Public Policy degree from New York University in the UK.

Other changes that have been made in the mini reshuffle include the appointment of Dr Julius Monzi Muia as the Principal Secretary for the National Treasury. Prior to this he was the Principal Secretary for the State Department of Planning.

The Principal Secretary for the State Department of Planning position which was left vacant after the move by Dr Muia has now been taken over by Mr Torome Saitoti. Torome was the PS for Defence.

Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Gordon Kihalangwa has been appointed as the Principal Secretary for the Ministry of Defence. He has previously held the position of Principal Secretary State Department of Immigration, Border Control & Citizen services a position which has been left vacant after the reshuffle.
