The Ford Silverton Assembly Plant in Pretoria, South Africa has produced the first batch of Ford Everest cars. The very first car, a Moondust Silver Everest 2.2 XLT 4×4, is currently on its way to its new owner in Kenya who bought it through CMC Motors. The next batch of Everest export models will be shipped to Madagascar, Tanzania and Cameroon.
The Silverton Assembly Plant also produces the Ford Ranger for the South African and African export markets. A total of eight different Ford Ranger and Ford Everest cars are produced at the plant with a choice of 2.2 and 3.2-litre Duratorq TDCi engines, XLS, XLT, manual and automatic transmissions, as well as the option of two or four-wheel drive.
Ford has a different plant in South Africa, in Port Elizabeth to be specific, that produces the 2.2 & 3.2 Duratorq TDCI engines.
