Simba Colt Motors has launched the new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport SUV in the Kenyan market. The versions of the Pajero Sport that were launched are the GLX (model KS3WGYMFR) & GLS (model KS1WGUPFPR), both of which are Four-wheel drive.
The following are select specifications of the new Pajero Sport:
1. Super Select 4WD
Using the drive mode selector dial, you can switch between 2WD and 4WD with the drive mode selector when the car is in motion at speeds of upto 100km/h.
2. Engine
- GLX – 2.5-liter intercooled turbocharged Direction Injection Diesel engine (100kW/4000rpm)
- GLS – 2.4-liter MIVEC intercooled turbocharged Direction Injection Diesel engine (133kW/3500rpm)
3. Transmission
- GLX – 5 speed automatic transmission
- GLS – 8 speed automatic transmission
4. Lights
It has LED headlights and daytime running lights. It also has LED combination lights at the back.
5. Electric parking brake
The parking brake on the Pajero Sport is a switch that you simply pull up to apply the brake or push down to release it.
6. Engine start and stop
You start and stop the Pajero Sport via a switch on the dashboard.
7. Seating space
It seats 7. The second and third-row seats can be folded down to create cargo space.
8. Sensors
- Blind Spot Warning (BSW) – Uses sensors on the rear bumper to detect cars in your blind spots and a warning indicator appears on the door mirror.
- Ultrasonic misacceleration Mitigation System (UMS) – This system lets out a buzzer and displays a warning if the car’s front or rear sensors detect a nearby obstacle in your path. Engine output is also automatically controlled if you suddenly accelerate by accident.

The new car costs Ksh. 5.8 Million plus VAT and will come with a 3 year/100,000 kms warranty.
The new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will compete with the likes of Toyota Fortuner and Ford Everest in the Kenyan market. Simba Colt have held the Mitsubishi franchise in Kenya for 50 years and the Mistubishi brand controls 17% of the passenger car market share.
