Women take centre stage in many of the films screened by AfriDocs this September, airing on [ED] DStv Channel 190 and GOtv Channel 65 on Thursdays at 19:55 Central African Time.
The films highlight the stories of strong African women, many facing almost insurmountable odds. Although some of these stories may be about hardship, some are also stories of hope, such as the biography of Zambia’s national boxing icon, seven-time World Champion Esther Phiri.
AfriDocs in September also includes films on topical environmental issues from across Africa and beyond.
Some of the content which will be aired include: the 2013 Moroccan film, Bastards; India’s Beyond Prayer; Garbage Dreams from Egypt; Kenya’s Carbon for Water and Last Train Home from China.
The full programme schedule and synopses of the films are available on http://www.afridocs.net/ or http://www.facebook.com/AfriDocs .
