Kenyan band Sauti Sol have been nominated in the annual BET awards in the Best International Act Africa category. Other African acts that have been nominated in the same category are:

- Sarkodie (Nigeria)
- StoneBwoy (Ghana)
- Wizkid (Nigeria)
- Yemi Alade (Nigeria)
- The Soil (South Africa)
Sauti Sol is an afro-pop Kenyan band that is comprised of four gentlemen i.e. Bien-Aime Baraza, Willis Austin Chimano, Polycarp Otieno and Savara Mudigi. They have two albums, Mwanzo (2008) and Sol Filosofi plus a self-titled EP produced in collaboration South African producer Spoek Mathambo. Their third album ‘Live and Die in Afrika’ is set to be released later this year.
Last year Nigerian artist Davido won in the Best International Act Africa category at the BET awards with Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong’o winning the award for Best Actress. This year’s winners will be announced on June 28th at the Nokia Theatre in L.A.
