Two women were elected onto Kenya Airways’ board of directors at the 38th Annual General Meeting that was held at the Bomas of Kenya on 21st November 2014. The two, Wanjiku Mugane and Caroline Armstrong-Ogwapit, will join a KQ board which previously did not have a single woman in its ranks (We wrote about it HERE).
Ms Mugane is an investment banker. She is the MD of Fedha Connect Ltd, a company that raises capital for businesses in real estate, oil and gas and agribusiness. She was the CEO and founder of First Africa Capital, a finance advisory company before it was sold it to Standard Chartered Bank in 2009. She has served as a Non-Executive Director of East African Breweries Ltd (first woman ever to hold the position) and Equity Bank.
Mrs Armstrong-Ogwapit is a career banker who is currently the director of strategic projects at Housing Finance. She was previously the head of customer service at Barclays Bank Kenya.
