As a continuation of what not to do when you are angry, here are 5 things you SHOULD do when you are angry.
1. Write about it
As I am doing write now and did with the post before, writing is very therapeutic. It helps you to calm down and think about the situation and the consequences of your action. You also get to help some people who might be in a similar situation and need to read this so as to calm down.
2. Think
Most of us fail to think about the consequences of whatever we might do when we’re angry. Of course, the other person is on the wrong (at least that’s what we tell ourselves) but what will I gain by doing them harm. Yes yes, revenge is sweet I know but have you ever spent a night in a Kenyan jail. Don’t think so. You can go ahead and do something though and tell me the experience in jail so I can blog about it.
3. Listen to music
It was not a fool who said music is the language of the soul. Or something in that regard. All I know is the right kind of music can really calm you down and help you think of something else. Like how J Cole and Kendrick Lamar are awesome rappers. And how Drake has in his small way revolutionized what we think of rappers. Who knew rappers could sing. I digress.
4. Ask yourself WWJD
Yes, What would Jason do?
5. Take it outside
Yes, take it outside. Not that you go out and fight it out like men. But rather go for a walk to calm your head. Get yourself out of any environment that would cause you to result in violence, both to other but most importantly to yourself.
