Absa Bank Kenya has officially unveiled its new Visa Infinite Debit and Credit Metal card. Launched against the backdrop of the 2026 Magical Kenya Open, the new cards are designed to bridge the gap between luxury and everyday digital utility.
The new Absa Visa Infinite Metal card introduces a suite of new features that include:
- Hyper-Local Integration: For the first time, these premium cards integrate seamlessly with M-PESA Paybill and Till numbers, allowing users to leverage their bank credit for everyday local transactions.
- Wearable Payments: Beyond traditional plastic, the card supports Tap n’ Pay via NFC-enabled smartphones and Garmin sports watches, catering to the growing fitness and tech-focused demographic.
- Financial Flexibility: Through the Absa Mobile App, customers can access an automated Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) feature, allowing large purchases to be split into manageable payment plans instantly.
Absa has packed the Visa Infinite card with significant travel protections and perks. Cardholders now have access to:
- International Travel Insurance: Coverage up to USD 2.5 million.
- Curated Global Offers: Exclusive discounts in major hubs including Dubai, London, and New York via the Visa Destination proposition.
Speaking at the launch, Moses Muthui, Absa Bank Kenya’s Director of Consumer Banking, noted that this is only the beginning of a wider rollout.
“The Absa Visa Infinite card is our response to the evolving demands of the Kenyan customer. Whether tapping on a smartwatch, paying through a till number, or converting a transaction in the app, our customers are assured of security and fluidity wherever they are.”
Linda Kimani, Head of Card Payments at Absa Bank Kenya, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that the bank is redefining the banking experience by merging high-end service with local realities. “We are meeting the market’s needs while redefining what modern banking looks and feels like,” she stated.
