In the recent past, a good number of Kenyans have migrated to Airtel courtesy of their cheap offers on both voice and data. However, their subscribers got a rude shock this morning when they woke up to find that they couldn’t make calls or surf the net. This downtime has also affected their customer care lines hence the only place their not so amused customers can vent is on social media.
@AIRTEL_KE Whom may we complain to when call/SMS are not going through your systems?@CA_Kenya

@AIRTEL_KE proves to be the most unreliable network in Kenya. Lost network in Nairobi since night time till now. Cant make calls nor text, cant load or check airtime.

You can trust Kenyans to find humor in any situation.
It’s only in Kenya you will @AIRTEL_KE with @SafaricomPLC line to enquire what is happening with Airtel voice calls????

Some users like George Murage found a work around by switching their phones to the 2G network which is apparently working.
Airtel Kenya voice and data offline for the last few hours.
JTL has also been having issues since yesterday.
Switch to Airtel 2G to make any/all calls. Airtel Kenya Internet most likely will not work until issue is resolved.

So far, Airtel has indicated that they have identified the issue and are working to resolve it.
Hi, kindly note we have identified the issue affecting data, voice and sms and are working on resolving it.^Caro

Given that most Kenyans have dual sim phones, i am sure communication will not be that much of a problem but it is still annoying to say the least.
