Aspira and Xiaomi have partnered to provide Kenyans with the opportunity to buy Xiaomi products on credit and then pay in installments.

The announcement was made at the launch of the first Xiaomi Mi Home store in Kenya. Speaking during the launch of the first Xiaomi Mi Home store in Sub-Saharan African market on Sunday 14th July at the Hub Mall Karen in Nairobi, Aspira Managing Director Yoeal Haile said that the partnership will bring a significant change to the Kenyan tech market.

“We are honored and very excited to partner with one of the leading global smartphone retailers, with an impressive track record of manufacturing and distributing cutting edge mobile devices,” Mr. Yoeal said. “The partnership with Xiaomi Mi Home clearly supports our vision to bring to our customers’ quality and cutting edge products.”

As part of the partnership Aspira customers will buy a range of Xiaomi products on credit. The products, which are about 300, range from Mi TV Boxes, Mi Band fitness trackers, Vacuum cleaners, Smart switches, Smart lights, Bluetooth speakers, USB Cables, Xiaomi smartphones and Smart TVs.

Xiaomi showed a taste of what it plans to offer in the Kenyan market by introducing a number of products and plans to launch 3 more Xiaomi stores by the end of Q3 2019.

Aspira offers loans to Kenyans to buy various things that include smartphones and home appliances. The loans are given via their app on the Google Playstore and the Apple Store. After a customer downloads the app and signs up, the get a loan based on their credit limit. They are then able to purchase goods from any of the partner stores. The customer is then able to repay for the product purchased over a period of time (up-to a year) in monthly installments. Aspira launched in Kenya in 2018 and have partnered with a number of stores in Nairobi that include.
