Huawei Y9 officially launched in Kenya; going for Ksh. 24,990

Huawei has officially launched the Huawei Y9 2019 in Kenya. At the launch, Huawei has announced that there were 2,000 pre-orders were made for the Huawei Y9 since the pre-order period was opened on 19th October. The pre-orders were made on Jumia and in Huawei retail stores countrywide.

The Huawei Y9 is now available for sale Jumia, Huawei retail stores and Telkom Kenya stores countrywide for Ksh. 24,990.

Speaking of the launch, Huawei’s Head of Eastern Africa Mobile Steven Li said, “We would like to acknowledge the fact that Y9 2019 has been one of the devices that has generated interest in the market, our pre-order sales were above our expectation, as of yesterday we were still receiving pre-order requests both online and offline. Huawei Y9 2019 features the new generation 6.5″ Notched HUAWEI FullView Display, with a high screen to body ratio and comfortable sleek design, users can experience cinematic-level visuals and smoother control. The delicate appearance and trendy colours are elegant yet stylish, and the looks are always in fashion.”

Following the successful launch of the Huawei Y9 2019 in the Kenyan market over 2000 pre-orders were made both on Jumia and retail stores across the country surpassing the target by 140%. The phone is now readily available in the market for Kshs 24,990 and will also be available at Telkom retail stores across the country.

The smartphone comes with a Full HD 6.5 touchscreen with a high 2340×1080 pixels resolution. It brings out whatever you are viewing on the screen clearly and with a lot of clarity. The large screen is also perfect for playing videos and gaming. It also comes with an Eye Comfort feature that dims the screen brightness to reduce strain on the eyes when using the phone.

The phone comes with 4 AI Cameras i.e. dual rear cameras with 13 Megapixels + 2 Megapixels and dual selfie cameras with 16 Megapixels + 2 Megapixels. Huawei has promised that the hefty 4000 mAh battery will give you about 9 hours of heavy use with activities like gaming or playing videos. Additionally, it comes with 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, 4,000 mAh battery, and runs on the Android 8.1 Oreo Operating System. The colours available are: Midnight Black and Sapphire Blue.
