Faiba is the new kid in the mobile network space in Kenya. The new mobile operator is owned by Jamii Telecommunications Limited (JTL) under the brand name Faiba 4G. JTL acquired a 4G license, on the 700Mhz spectrum, which has made Faiba 4G possible.
Faiba 4G is data focused and services will be offered on a 4G network. They will offer services such as mobile data, calls, SMS and VoLTE. The new service is promising free on net calls (Faiba to Faiba) when on a data plan and speeds of upto 72Mbps.
The network is available in Nairobi, Mombasa,Nakuru, Eldoret, Kisumu and Thika. Faiba apparently has 300 base stations already.
To access the Faiba 4G service, one can acquire SIM cards (Ksh. 100 or free with a data plan) plus their Mi-Fi device (Ksh. 5,000) at PhoneXpress shops.
