The use, manufacture and importation of plastic bags will be banned in Kenya from 1st September 2017 according to a notice published in the Kenya Gazette. The notice, which is dated 28th February 2017, indicates that the ban will take effect after 6 months.
The notice orgininated from the Ministry of Environment and it covers plastic bags of all types including those used for household and commercial packaging.
