Kenyan sports betting company SportPesa is the new official sponsor of the English club Hull City. The club has announced on their website that the sponsorship deal is will be for three years. Sportpesa will have their name and company logo on Hull City’s home, away and third shirts for the 2016/17, 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons.
Part of the deal will see Hull City come to Kenya to play a select side. The new multi-million pound sponsorship deal is apparently the most lucrative in the Hull City’s 112-year history.
This is not SportPesa’s first foray in sports sponsorship having sponsored the Kenya Premier League, football clubs Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards, and recently the Kenya Rugby Union. However, sponsoring a football club is a new and is a first for a Kenyan company.
The sponsorship of Hull City also marks SportPesa’s entry into the UK betting market. The company also plans to expand to other African countries.
