An association comprising of Kenyan atheists, the Atheists in Kenya Society (AIK), has finally been registered. The registrar of societies had rejected their registration on the grounds that its ideology goes against the Constitution of Kenya.

Their registration comes after the group threatened to go to court citing that the rejection of their registration went against the constitution, specifically the two articles below:
Article 27(4): Which states that the State shall not discriminate directly or indirectly against any person on any ground, including race, sex, pregnancy, marital status, health status, ethnic or social origin, colour, age, disability, religion, conscience, belief, culture, dress, language or birth.
Article 36(1): Which provides the right of association stating that every person has the right to freedom of association, which includes the right to form, join or participate in the activities of an association of any kind.
