Some people can mess your entire Internet experience if you let them get to you. Online trolls have ruined lives and even led some people into deleting their social media profiles. It is wise to ignore and not to engage them. In other words, do not feed the trolls by validating their attacks.
Caroline Mutoko has her own unique way of dealing with trolls online. She doesn’t ignore them or respond to their attacks. She replies with positivity instead.
In November last year, Robert Alai responded to Mutoko’s article about Raila with an epic rant on Facebook. It was a below the belt personal attack that ranged from her board appointment and her attendance of Harvard. Below is how Mutoko responded.
Cyprian Nyakundi in two articles accused Caroline Mutoko and Maina Kageni of misguiding young women. The two were further accused of incubating prostitution and destroying the institution of marriage. The content of the articles was bizarre and no evidence was presented. Mutoko, in response to Nyakundi, offered him a cheque of Ksh. 10,000 for the ‘publicity’
@C_NyaKundiH Asante for the publicity ?
Your cheque is ready ?@GhaflaKenya @MpashoNews @TheStarKenya@LarryMadowo pic.twitter.com/dXQ2a3M2h1— Caroline Mutoko (@CarolineMutoko) February 5, 2016
Both the responses to the two gentlemen served to neutralize the situation and in both cases it brought the online public to Mutoko’s corner. Her brand of responding to haterade is different but it’s very effective. Rock on with your bad self Caroline Mutoko!!
