Intel, one of the biggest electronic brands in the world, recently partnered with Kenyan company Shimba Technologies to optimize their TubeVideos app. Shimba Technologies is one of the country’s biggest Mobile Application Solutions Provider with over six years of experience in the industry since they were incorporated in 2008.

Propelled by growing need for customized mobile services in the Kenyan market the company aimed at creating a niche market in development of software platforms that integrate an organizations core operations with mobile device. They have been able to serve a wide array of customers ranging from government, non- governmental organizations and corporate organizations.

Currently their applications have over 20 Million global downloads in the various applications stores namely Google Play (Android), Nokia Ovi Store, Getjar, Blackberry App World and the Samsung store.

Their app, TubeVideos, is an entertainment as well as educative mobile application that aggregates all your top local videos from various sources such as Vines, DailyMotion, Vimeo, SoundCloud and YouTube elegantly in one place. The videos are well categorized in various categories such as Comedy, Entertainment, Film, Music, News, Sports and Tech making it easy to find videos in a category the user likes.

The aim of the partnership with Intel was to increase the app’s performance and its efficiency using Intel’s GPA System Analyzer. Graphics Performance Analyzers (GPA) are tools for graphics analysis and optimization that can help make games and other graphics-intensive applications run even faster. The GPA System Analyzer, part of the Intel® INDE, is a tool that can help diagnose a variety of performance issues.

Using the tool they were able to analyze performance issues in TubeVideos as it provided a common and integrated user interface for collecting performance data. In turn, Shimba Technologies now have an app that:
