Oscar-winning 12 Years a Slave actress Lupita Nyong’o is set to grace our screens once again. She has joined the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII and will be starring alongside Game off Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie.
The news was announced on the Star Wars website, although it did not say what roles the actresses would play.
“I could not be more excited about Lupita and Gwendoline joining the cast of Episode VII,” Lucasfilm president and producer Kathleen Kennedy said.
Original stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker will reprise their 1977 roles in the new film. Additional stars include John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow.
Following the announcement, Lupita tweeted “I can finally say it out loud and proud: I’m going to a galaxy far far away!” along with an Instagram picture of the “Star Wars” logo.
Star Wars: Episode VII is due in cinemas on 18 December 2015.
