Enthusiasts of the Isuzu D-Max range of vehicles are in for a treat. General Motors East Africa (GMEA) has launched the new 6th generation Isuzu D-Max. This is after 2013 saw an increase of 15% in the commercial segment of the competitive pick-up segment.
Speaking at the launch, GMEA Managing Director Rita Kavashe said,†This increase is largely driven by growth in the agricultural, telecommunication, transport and construction sectors. The 6th-generation Isuzu D-Max which builds on Isuzu’s heritage of innovation, toughness, durability, reliability and functionality, is ideally positioned to meet this demand.â€
The new pickup will be available in 7 diesel models that will offer great driving options and flexibility to customers when it comes to; work horse capability, leisure and off-road driving.
General Motors is Isuzu’s partner and will be stocking this new range of vehicles.
Wendle Roberts, Vice President, Product Engineering-Africa emphasized that the launch signalled GM’s confidence in the East African economy, where it invested over US$2-million last year in a plant upgrade that improved production capacity by 30% and a bus body technology centre that is a benchmark for safety, quality and technology in the industry.
Speaking at the launch, Hon. Adan Mohammed, Cabinet Secretary for Industrialization and Enterprise Development applauded GMEA calling for continued investment in the industry.
“As you continue to meet market needs, I encourage roll out of products such as these that can handle the region’s terrain and serve different sectors.” Adan said, adding that the government is keen on creating a favourable environment for market growth and further build the business environment.
