Palm Cafe is an exquisite restaurant located at the heart of the Heri Heights Luxury Serviced Apartments, along Nairobi’s State House Road. The Cafe is on Kolobot Drive off Arboretum Road, just close enough to the CBD yet without the noise and bustles that come with a city restaurant. It is an ideal place to down your course meals with your favourite drinks and the restaurant’s scrumptious foods and incredible interior decor will make you want to be a regular.
Palm Cafe knows too well the importance of making great and lasting first impressions and the creativity on the art pieces that strategically lined the hallways and walls blew me away! The cosy sunken sofas at the lounge facing the Cafe’s entrance provided a place to read magazines or the day’s paper or wait for a guest who was running late. My friend and I got to rest our heels for a bit as we placed our orders for lunch, and then moved to the dining area.
I had Beef Fillet with Pepper sauce and chose French Fries and Kachumbari to go with it. I love my meat well done and I was glad the attendant asked me to state my preferences. Add some ketchup, a pinch of salt and some black pepper to the mix and I was sold! The food was all levels of delicious and filling and the beef was just what I had hoped it to be! For drinks, I had Hum Zinga, a juice blend from pineapple, mango and papaya and I have not met a fruit drink that’s so refreshing, nutritious and satiating!
My friend had Lamb Chops in Mint Jus with Potato Lyonnais and Kachumbari. The lamb chops were delicious, cooked to perfection while the Potato Lyonnais had an impressive flame grilled taste, so he could almost taste the flames that cooked them. He chose a Classic Ice Tea Moktail that was scented with lime and Fresh Lemon and though he would have loved it sweetened if he wasn’t nursing a sore throat, the tea was quenching and soothing.
For dessert we both had an assortment of fruit slices with vanilla ice cream topping. I was amazed by the attention to detail at Palm Café and the fast, cheerful and courteous attendants. There was a vase of fresh flowers on every table, the cutlery was sparkling, the room was spacious and the atmosphere was warm and homely.
