Xbox Game Camp Africa is returning for its third year, reinforcing its commitment to nurturing the continent’s burgeoning video game industry. In collaboration with the ID@Xbox Developer Acceleration Program (DAP), this year’s camp will feature a 12-week program for pre-selected professional game studios.
The virtual camp will guide participating teams from the initial idea phase to creating a functional game prototype. Along the way, developers will receive mentorship from members of Team Xbox and will have the opportunity to pitch their games to the ID@Xbox Developer Acceleration Program.
The program has already proven its value. Kunta Content, a studio from Kenya, has made significant strides on its debut title, Hiru, after participating in the first two Xbox Game Camps. The team received mentorship from Xbox, including the head of the program, Peter Zetterberg, which helped them reach new development milestones.
“We are beyond excited to finally share a glimpse of the world of Hiru,” said Dean Gichukie, CEO and Game Producer at Kunta Content. “We are bringing the continent of Africa to life in a way that has never been seen before. This trailer is a testament to our team’s passion and the incredible support from Xbox, starting with Xbox Game Camp, allowing us to showcase the beauty of the Masai Mara, the mysteries of the Congo, and the starkness of the desert.”
The official kickoff for Xbox Game Camp Africa will be on December 4 in Cape Town, South Africa, in collaboration with Africa Games Week.
