Lyra Aoko & Leotunapika among winners in the BAKE Awards 2019

The BAKE Awards 2019 winners were announced yesterday at a winners’ gala event that was held at the Utalii Hotel. Like in recent years women dominated the competition both in nominations and in the winners.

The winners on the night included first timers such as JustJoykendi.com, who won the overall Kenyan Blog of the Year category. Other winners included Lyraoko.com in the photography category, leotunapika.com in the food category, africancityplanner.com in the environmental category and fashionablestepmum.com in the fashion and style category.

This year’s competition began on February 12th 2019, and like in recent years women dominated the competition both in nominations and in the winners. The competition format sees submissions in various categories, thereafter, a panel of judges selected the best 5 nominees from the successful submissions in each category. There is also public voting where the public vote for their favourite blogs.

The BAKE Awards 2019 was sponsored by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Safaricom, Tuko.co.ke, CDI Gadgets, and Konza City.

The BAKE Awards was founded in 2012 and it recognizes and rewards the best in Kenyan blogging. It is organized by the Bloggers Association of Kenya (BAKE), an organization that promotes online content creation, freedom of the media and digital rights in Kenya.
