Macallan Rare Cask whisky has been launched in Kenya making it the second African country for the drink to be launched in after South Africa.
Macallan Rare Cask is a single malt Scotch whisky that is matured in 16 American and Spanish sherry seasoned oak casks.
Macallan Rare Cask is another addition to the premium whisky market in Kenya. Other Macallan brands in the market include the 1824 series whiskys i.e. Macallan Amber, Macallan Sienna and Macallan Ruby.
Macallan is pricey and retails at about $300.
Macallan is a product of Edrington and it is imported and distributed in Kenya by WOW Beverages. The launch comes on the back of the launch of another premium whisky, Chivas Regal Extra.
