Epson has announced the SureColor SC-P800 as its latest professional photo printer. This A2 model printer is the successor of the Stylus Pro38xx Series of photo printers. It produces high quality photos with smooth gradations and tones. It also comes with an optional roll paper unit, meaning photographers and artists can now easily create prints on larger formats such as banners. The SC-P800 can also be used to produce a range of documents such as synopses, presentations and renderings.

The printer uses Ultrachrome HD ink, a new nine-colour ink-set which produces a large colour gamut giving users the ability to print photos with a diverse range of accurate colours and dense blacks. Furthermore, Ultrachrome HD has improved lightfastness, translating to more durable and long lasting prints.

Other features of this printer include a 2.7″ colour touch panel to help users switch easily between printing on different medias and also to monitor the status of important print jobs. The SC-P800 has three paper paths, inclusive of a new front-loading fine art paper path which serves to make paper loading and switching between different media forms easier. To make the printer ideal for large photo print runs, it uses the 80 ml ink cartridges.

Advanced connectivity features give the SC-P800 added flexibility. It is WiFi enabled and it also supports Epson Connect for easy mobile printing from a range of devices including tablets, PCs and smartphones. The SC-P800 also allows connection to devices without a wireless connection thanks to Wi-Fi Direct connectivity.

The SureColor is retailing at Ksh. 150,000.
