Groove Awards Nominations
Mo Sound Entertainment in partnership with Safaricom, held a red carpet event at the Louis Leakey Auditorium, National Museum to announce the nominees for the 8th Annual Groove Awards. Since the Awards began in 2004, over 600 artists have been honored.
Speaking at the ceremony, David Kuria chairman of the Groove Awards Nomination Panel announced that they had come up with The Groove Nomination Academy to decide on who gets nominated from submissions handed in. The academy is made up of 70 strong personalities in the music industry. DJS, presenters, artists, writers, editors, and producers make up part of the Academy. Their work is to go through each submission and decide who among them deserves to be nominated for the award.
He also said that this year’s awards will have a Groove tour in 5 major towns in the country. They will have shows in Nairobi, Mombasa, Thika, Bungoma and Kisumu in the aim of promoting gospel music and the awards across the country. There is also the Groove Camp set up in Mombasa. It is a 3 day fully paid retreat for artists to come together and strategize on how to direct the gospel industry towards greater heights.
