Turnup Travel has announced that it will host its fifth Nairobi IG Tour on September 7th 2019 in various locations in Nairobi.
Experiential travel company Turnup Travel first launched the Instagram Tours, a scenic tour of Kenyan cities, in 2017. Nairobi was of course the first stop with other towns such as Mombasa, Lamu and Kisumu being covered later. The tours provide a one of a kind view of the city from dusk to dawn with different activities that includes; nature, food experiences, city walking tours, sundowners and pub crawls.
The IG Tour targets Kenya’s top content creators, journalists, artists, travellers and the expat communities living in Nairobi in an effort to showcase the lesser known side of Nairobi. The theme of this edition is New Perspectives.
April Long, a Chinese Lifestyle Blogger who is teaming up with Turnup Travel noted: “Having lived in Nairobi for 4 years while working for an international financial organisation, I have always been fascinated about how diverse and inclusive the city is. The Nairobi IG Tour Itinerary;
- 5:30 am – Assembly at GTC – Chiromo Lane
- 6 am: Catch the sunrise at Global Trade Centre – the newest tallest building in East Africa
- 7:30 am Dim Sum at Yuanzhiyuan Chinese restaurant and live demo cooking
- 10-12 noon: Cultural immersion through art and heritage tour at Nairobi National Museum
- 1 pm: Lunch at Pan Asian Yao in Gigiri
- 2-4pm: Showcase of art at China Garden- Calligraphy, Pipa music and Kong Fu Tai Chi
- 5pm-7pm: Sundowner and cocktail at GTC

The Turnup Travel’s IG Tours was launched in July 2017 as a collaboration between commercial and public sector brands to cooperate with influencers through travel. Turnup Travel has previously organized 4 IG Tours in Nairobi have thematically focussed on the history of architecture + heritage, wild side of the side, culinary experience across rooftop restaurants and an action packed one around adventure.
Turnup Travel is a tour operator & travel agency that organizes exclusive safaris, exotic holidays and themed experiences for organized groups and individual travellers. The agency also has a new media content agency callled Turnup in Motion which produces a travel and adventure series. Their CSR arm, Turnup for Good, designs, amplifies and facilitates CSR and development projects by working with local communities, corporate foundations, development organizations and conservancies. Turnup For Good has previously fundraised for planting trees in Mucharage Kihuri Forest in Aberdares, supporting an all women’s art & design craft group in Tsavo. They have also donated proceeds from the Nairobi IG Tour to the Homeless of Nairobi that provides shelter, rehabilitation and education fees for disadvantaged street children). They recently partnered with Shaba Challenge in partnership with Action Aid to build resilience for women and girls in marginalized areas.
