Kenya Railways has announced that it will increase the Standard Gauge Railway fares from April. The justification for the fare hike is to make operations on the Madaraka Express sustainable. The Ksh. 700 one way ticket fare will be increased to Ksh.1,200. Passengers travelling first class will continue to pay Ksh. 3,000.
Since the introduction of Madaraka Express last year, Kenya Railways has made a few changes in attempt to improve its services, the latest being allowing its customers to book tickets up to 30 days in advance.
