Election season is here with us again where citizens get to vote in leaders into various elective positions.

Candidates in the election rely on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to provide official polling results. On the side however, they usually have their own agents at the polling stations to monitor and confirm the vote count. This process has largely been informal and not very organized.

Hoji Ltd has launched a service to automate the vote tallying process. The service, which will run on the Hoji app, will allow polling agents to use the election monitoring feature on the app to submit vote tallies from polling stations in real-time. The data submitted is tagged with time and location information to ensure that it can be tracked back to the source. Polling agents can also attach photos of any important documents for authenticity and they can also use the app to report any incidents or irregularities.

The service also has instant analytics of how the candidate is performing, what incidents are most prevalent and a map of which polling stations have already submitted results.

To see how the service works, just the download Hoji app on the Google Play Store and sign up. Tap on Election Monitoring to download the Tallying Form, and then enter some dummy data to get the idea. You can then sign into their server using your account to view the results.

The service costs Ksh. 59,000 per ward, Ksh. 149,000 per constituency and Ksh. 299,000 per county.
