Tim Rimbui is a Musician, tech guy, pretend geek, and a certified apple fan boy. [yeah! I use apple tooth paste ..too]
We had a few questions for him, this is what he had to say
1. What was your first phone?
It was a Motorolla Talkabout, a giant phone that required its own special bag, seat at restaurant and ma3- fare.
2. What do you prefer? Facebook or Twitter? Why?
Twitter definitely…This year alone i have met 100+ people through the microblogging “social eco-sytem”. I believe that twitter has cornered the market on smart people. If i hangout with them, some of this smartness will hopefully end up rubbing off on me.
3. Where do you see yourself in 5 years
Career wise: Running East Africa’s biggest arts festival i.e Kinanda. Then may be working on some gava job some where
Personally: I plan to still be married to the same hot chile, raising our son in a Godly way and changing our world one small step at time.
4. His Question to us: What was your reaction to the most upsetting thing you were told, on deciding to start a Kenyan poetry blog?
Someone once told me that they thought that the primary reason i started the blog with the sole purpose of attracting women since most of them love poetry. I just told them to **** off.
5. What would you do if you were president for a day?
I find a seven-day a week too short; therefore I would DECREE an Increase in the number weekdays to 9, but make Wednesday a “pre-weekend day for resting”…with an option of working if the craving strikes. However banks and restaurants would be expected to work 24/7
6. What’s your favourite book & movie?
-
Book: The Irresistible Revolution: Living as an Ordinary Radical by Shane Claiborne
-
Movie: The invention of Lying
7. Who/What inspired you to do what you do now?
It’d be Steve Jobs; yes I know this sounds like an Apple fan boy’s loyalty pledge, but his life epitomizes the perfect success story: Dream-Struggle-Rejection- Success- rejection-Success-Influence
8. If you were to change jobs, what profession would you get into? Why?
Definitely be a government spy(NSIS/MOSSAD/ CIA) chief… because it is folly to entrust the running of the world to the corporations, the masses or even worse… politicians.
9.If you had a superpower, what would it be?
I’d like to be Gandaff coz of his super white beard… not sure if he had any super powers…wailaminute! He had witch-doctor powers! So-not-cool
10. If you were deserted on an abandoned island what 5 things would you want to have?
I would have 5 strong chinese contractors, build a bridge back to the mainland. My relationship with the outdoors is “complicated”
11. If you were a car, what car would you like to be? Why?
Fiat Uno. I thought it was the coolest car of the 80s.
12. If you could be in any band in the world, which one would you like to be in? Why?
I am already in that band and it’s called Ma3… seriously though it’d be the Roots, they are B.A. Bananas
13. Share something interesting about yourself with our readers.
About two years ago when on tour in a magical land far far away… some lady thought I was poor-destitute- cliche- African living in the streets and she gave me $3 which I took, graciously thanked her and hobbled right along. I did this because I felt by telling her the truth, I would be effectively raining on her random act of kindness. This action still bothers me to this day.
