Huawei has launched their newest mid-range smartphone, the Y9 2019, in the Kenyan market. The phone is retailing at Ksh. 24,990 and is available for pre-order on Jumia.
The smartphone comes with a Full HD 6.5 touchscreen with a high 2340×1080 pixels resolution. It brings out whatever you are viewing on the screen clearly and with a lot of clarity. The large screen is also perfect for playing videos and gaming. It also comes with an Eye Comfort feature that dims the screen brightness to reduce strain on the eyes when using the phone.
The phone comes with 4 AI Cameras i.e. dual rear cameras with 13 Megapixels + 2 Megapixels and dual selfie cameras with 16 Megapixels + 2 Megapixels. The AI enables the rear camera to intelligently recognize things you are about to take pictures of. It can recognize things like plants, food, buildings, concerts, animals, among others and then optimize the image automatically. Pictures taken when the AI is enabled are brighter and clearer. The Y9 creates beautiful selfies even in low-light conditions. It comes with a portrait mode that adds beautification and bokeh effects to selfies to make them awesome. It also has a gesture selfie taking mode for taking more composed selfies. Other features include pro-mode, HDR, panorama, light painting and AR Lens, which creates Snapchat like pictures.
Huawei has promised that the hefty 4000 mAh battery will give you about 9 hours of heavy use with activities like gaming or playing videos.
Additionally, it comes with 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, 4,000 mAh battery, and runs on the Android 8.1 Oreo Operating System. The colours available are: Midnight Black and Sapphire Blue.
With the phone, Huawei is targeting those who want a smartphone with premium features but are on a budget.
