They have done this through continued partnerships with residency programmes in Australia, Brazil, India, Spain, China and the United States. This year they are offering 8 new residencies in their 2016 programme.
Last year AIR launched a separate competition for seasoned, mid-late career artists allowing them to apply for positions at the Rockerfeller Foundation’s Bellagio Center in Italy. This year they are offering 5 more residencies to Africa’s more experienced artists.
Residences are available to composers, fiction, non-fiction writers, poeas, video/filmmakers, curators, visual and performance artists. Also included are artists of other forms whose work is inspired by or relates to global or social issues and promotes the well being of human kind.
