Nailab in partnership with Close the Gap and 1% Club Netherlands rolled out the “Leap2” program in May. The program supports startups in raising the initial seed money to grow the scale of business operations. Ten startups in the health, agriculture, education, transport and energy sectors were the first recipients of the fundraising support provided through the program. A cumulative total of Ksh. 3,061,787 was raised since the crowdfunding campaigns started on June 6th.
Here are the profiles of the startups that benefited from the Leap2 Program:
Afya plan
It is a platform that uses table banking for self help groups to parents in rural and urban poor areas.Once the pool of funds is created, it will be easier for parents to cater for medical expenditure for their children
Btrack global
A tracking device enabling Boda Boda riders in Africa to track their Boda-Bodas through their phones for recovery upon theft and also when in operation.
Chanjo plus
A digital vaccination platform that tracks vaccine defaulters, takes immunization history and tracks immunization coverage real time.
Deafine Connect
A platform for sending text messages in bulk to the Deaf for them to access real time information on Health, Education, Justice, their rights and employment opportunities.
Esvendo
EsVendo is a social enterprise that sells single unit sanitary towels through vending machines. The vending machines are placed in low income areas in Kenya.
Ebursary
Ebursary is a platform that connects bright needy African students to scholarships and bursary opportunities from across the globe.
