1. One of the most important ways to keep your lips looking soft and amazing is by regular exfoliation. You should ensure that you exfoliate using a gentle scrub such the home made sugar scrub. You can also use your toothbrush to scrub your lips gently while brushing your teeth. This will get rid of flakes and leave your lips smooth and supple.
2. The first step to take when doing lip make up is to use a lip liner and outline the edges of your lips. This lip liner should be of the same color lipstick that you will be using or of a lighter tint. Light red lip liner is great for this step. You should ensure that you create boundaries that you will be able to see when applying your lipstick.
3. In order for your lipstick to last long, you need to give it a good foundation. You can apply a little bit of good quality foundation on your lips during your make up routine. Ensure that the foundation is not too much though. If you do not use foundation or are not comfortable using it on your lips, you can apply a little bit of petroleum jelly on your lips so that you can both protect them and give them the shine that they need to look amazing.
4. Once you have applied your foundation or petroleum jelly, it is now time for you to use lipstick. Everyone has their own preferred method of applying lipstick. Some apply it straight from the tube while others use their finger. There are some who also use the lipstick brush. Whatever method you prefer, you need to ensure that your lipstick does not go out of the boundaries that you had created with your lip liner earlier. Any lipstick that goes out of the boundaries should be wiped away immediately with a tissue. You should apply your lipstick depending on the kind of occasion that you are planning to attend. For a day at the office, the lipstick should be light. You can put on heavy lipstick for a night out on a date or with friends.
5. Dab your lips with a tissue when you are done so that you can get rid of any extra lipstick on your lips. You can apply a little petroleum jelly on your lips when you are done with the lipstick so as to ensure that you lips do not dry up. Lipstick should always be wiped off before bed. Applying petroleum jelly on your lips before bed is a great way of softening the lips.
