It was Sunday and we decided to watch our wedding video reliving the fond memories. However, the experience turned nightmarish.
The video, which was saved on my computer hard drive, had probably corrupted! It was jerky and had no sound for almost 3 minutes play.
My wife went berserk. I was shocked. We didn’t know how to fix this. I contacted our wedding photographer, but couldn’t connect. We were last in touch with him six years ago!
I searched online what could be done to recover video and came across Stellar Repair for Video. Checking on the features of the repair tool and the kinds of video issues it resolves, I decided to try it.
Here, I want to share my experience as it may benefit many of you who have been or might encounter my kind of ordeal in future.
Buying decision is hard when there is plethora of video repair software. To be rest assured of the results of the software, I felt it would be smart to first try the demo version, which was free.
Here is my take on the video repair application…
Free demo helped, but…
I downloaded the demo version from the developer’s website. Added the wedding video, an .mp3 file to the software and clicked Repair option. The demo version did showed up the preview of the repaired video but only up to 10 MB!
To preview the complete wedding video and save that repaired file, it directed to buy the software. Though irritated, with the limitation of 10 MB, I bought Stellar Repair for Video.
However, the demo version gave the idea, how the software repairs videos.
Online buying and installation was easy with no hassle
I installed and run the Stellar video repair tool on my Windows 10 laptop. It was a simple process. I received an e-mail containing the link to download the software and the activation key within few minutes after payment confirmation.
The software is also available for Mac systems.
GUI
The first screen of Stellar Repair for Video prompted to add corrupt video file. I added the wedding video and clicked ‘Repair’ button. The interface was neat and simple. In three steps – Add File, Repair, and Save, the process was completed.
Repair time
The repair process took longer than expected. I was getting irked. I could see the progress bar of the video repair on the software interface. A Stop option was also there to end the process in between. With no choice, we just crossed our fingers. It took over 2 hours to scan and repair the corrupt .mp3 video.
We could Preview our wedding video
After 2 hours of desperation, a message appeared about the successful repair of our wedding video with a Preview option. We watched the wedding preview. There was no more sound issue or jerkiness. It was playing fine. I clicked on Save Repaired File.
Location choice to save the repaired file
As I clicked on save option, a dialog box appeared asking where I want to save the repaired file – source destination or other location of my choice. I think it was a well thought of as this gave me flexibility to save in my preferred drive.

Final take…
Overall, it was a satisfying video repair experience. My wife and I were delighted to get back the most precious memories of our lives back. For us Stellar Repair for Video came as a rescue, when we almost felt our wedding video is lost forever.
In terms of functionality, software was able to fix missing sound and jerky quality. Although, the long repair time for one video was annoying. However, the developer website claims the repair time depends upon size, number of video files, and the level of corruption.
Plus, 10MB preview in the demo version was too less to judge if it could repair the complete video file.
What I loved was its neat user interface, easy repair process, preview, and option to save at the desired location.
Finally, since Stellar Repair for Video fixed all the corruption in my wedding video, I would recommend everyone to give it a try.
