Joanne Mwangi – Yelbert is the Founder and current CEO of Professional Marketing Services (PMS) Limited, a company that she singly started about 22 years ago.

Joanne is a graduate of the University of Nairobi – Bachelor of Arts and holds a Masters in Marketing from United States International University (USIU) – Africa

Joanne is a passionate believer that Kenyans has what it takes to build Micro, Small and Medium enterprises into Large ones. She is an International Labor Organization (ILO) and World Bank (WB) trained and certified business mentor and has mentored over 500 youth’s directly and indirectly.  

She was Awarded Head of State Commendation – HSC by H. E the President, Hon. Mwai Kibaki, EGH, MP, in recognition of outstanding service.

Joanne is the first woman in Kenya to be Awarded Marketing Warrior Status – WMSK for raising the bar in Marketing Practice in Kenya

Joanne is also the founder and chair of Federation of Women Entrepreneur Associations (FEWA), which aims at capacity building, entrepreneurship and business development training, service delivery, creating rights awareness and mentoring especially of young women entrepreneurs. The organization empowers women who are the backbone of our society and this has brought a significant change in the country.

Through FEWA, she represents Kenya on the FEMCOM (Federation of National Associations of Women in Business in Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa), COMESA board.

Joanne has served as Chair of many organizations including; Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT), Eastern Africa Women Entrepreneur Exchange Network Kenya Chapter (EAWEEXN), Advertising Standards Council and an accomplished Rotarian among many others

Joanne is currently a board member of the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company Limited (NCWSC) and serves as the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors. She has most recently served as board member of the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) and Micro and Small Enterprise Authority (MSEA) from 2013 to 2016, and board member off the Private Sector Development Strategy, The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI).

Joanne has recently joined the KCB Lions’ Den as the ‘Queen of the Pride’ – in line with KCB Group 2jiajiri initiative that seeks to create job opportunities for the youth as well as up skill them for self-employment while at the same time provide training, funding, market place and mentorship for future entrepreneurs.

When not engrossed in developments and strategies, Joanne is quite the traveler and an avid reader – never lacks a book with her anytime and anywhere. When not reading or travelling, Joanne loves cooking for her family and can break a leg while dancing!  

Due to her exceptional leadership skills and excellent performance at PMS over the years, Joanne has gained a reputation in the local and regional market for providing exceptional service delivery by ensuring that there is mutual trust among employees and clients, resulting in the expansion of the company to cater for greater marketing needs.
