Budget airline Fastjet has announced the suspension of flights to Nairobi from Dar es Salaam effective 5th December 2016. Flights to Entebbe, Uganda and between Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe and Johannesburg, South Africa will also be suspended.

Fastjet will now only serve domestic Tanzanian routes between Dar es Salaam and Mwanza, Kilimanjaro, Mbeya and Zanzibar, international routes from Tanzania to Johannesburg, Lusaka and Harare, and two routes from its Zimbabwe base in Harare to Victoria Falls and Johannesburg.

The airline is struggling and the route suspension is part of the holding company’s, Fastjet PLC, turnaround plan that is headed by new CEO Nico Bezuidenhout.

Fastjet launched the Nairobi route on 11th January 2016 after years of trying to get in the market.
